About

The Arab Renaissance is feature documentary co-produced by Wild Media with IWC for BBC Arts. The film explored the cultural landscape of the UAE and its neighbours Qatar and KSA soon after the opening of the Louvre Abu Dhabi. Featuring contributions from leading names in the art world from Mohamed Ibrahaim, Abdullah Al Saad, Antonia Carver, Sultan Al Qassemi, Noor Al Suwaidi, Sunny Runbar, Manal Al Dhowayan and Ahmed Mater. The film looked at the UAE’s emergence as a cultural destination with Al Serkal Avenue and Art Jameel and the host of institutions being built on Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Island (Louvre Abu Dhabi, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, Zayed Museum), but also reflected back on the influence of Sharjah Biennale and earlier art movements like the UAE’s Group of 5.
